When and how did you get into Garbage?
When I first heard Only Happy on the radio I fell in love with it. I taped it off the radio and listened to it frequently on mixed tapes. For some reason I never bought the debut album right then. When Version 2.0 was released I went to the store and purchased both albums.
When did you start collecting?
In November 2004 I started my Garbage vinyl collection. Previously I had owned all of the Version 2.0 CD singles and their first three albums on CD but I sold all of my CDs a few years back to buy things for my newborn daughter.
Do you or did you have any aims when you started out collecting?
My aim is to have all of their vinyl releases.
How big is your collection?
Currently I have 24 records.
What is your favourite Garbage item in your collection?
My favourite item is a signed copy of their first album.
How much do you think you have spent on your collection?
I estimate that I have spent around $400USD so far on the vinyl.
What’s the most you have spent on a Garbage item?
$50
What’s the most you would ever spend on a Garbage item and what is it?
$1500. I figure that I could probably find enough fans who would pay a like amount to have a private concert by the band. I do not know how much it would cost to book them but I can keep dreaming about such an exclusive show.
Does your Garbage collecting Obsession stretch to seeing the band live in concert?
Eg: Do you follow the band from Show to Show for a period during a tour?
I do not have the opportunity to follow them on tour in the real world but I do try to follow their performances online. I have been present at all of their Seattle performances to date. I was heartbroken when the April 8 th show was cancelled. I really enjoy Bleed Like Me and I want to see them perform on this tour.
Will you ever sell your Garbage collection? If you were asked this same question in 5 years time what would your answer be?
Yes someday. All things must pass. Maybe in five years but certainly not right now! My Siouxsie, Portishead, and Garbage would be the last to go.
