When and how did you get into Garbage?
Over the summer of 1998 I started discovering my own music, and ITIP transfixed me. This was followed with Special and I got V2.0 for Christmas that year.
When did you start collecting?
Apart from the aforementioned album, my first Garbage single was the cassette of YLSF. During the barren spell between that and BG (punctuated only by TWINE) I set about getting b-sides through the singles.
Do you or did you have any aims when you started out collecting?
The only aim was to get all of the songs that they had released. Then I discovered the 7”s and the 3” CDs…and a contact at the local record fair (who owns a shop in Gillingham) kept feeding my habit.
How big is your collection?
See my post in that thread. (Quite Large)
What is your favourite Garbage item in your collection?
Probably the V2.0 promos/3” CDs, or the G era 7”s, or the EU CDs (TTITKB and #1 Crush)…don’t make me choose, man!
How much do you think you have spent on your collection?
Too much. Around £350.
What’s the most you have spent on a Garbage item?
That would be the 7” of Vow, which cost £30. I found it for £20 two days later at the local record fair.
What’s the most you would ever spend on a Garbage item and what is it?
I dunno, there’s nothing (at the moment) that screams buy me!
Does your Garbage collecting Obsession stretch to seeing the band live in concert?
Eg: Do you follow the band from Show to Show for a period during a tour?
Well, it’s only this tour that I’ve had the income to do it. And I went to Holland to see them, and I’d probably go to France…
Will you ever sell your Garbage collection? If you were asked this same question in 5 years time what would your answer be?
Possibly…but only because of something really drastic like a dramatic change in musically direction or one of the band being convicted for something dodgy e.g. child molestation or rape. My morals are worth more to me than my musical taste.
